How to remove a/c blower wheel

My a/c blower motor died on Thursday. I went to Autozone and bought a replacement motor, but the motor comes without the fan wheel (it's been 110+ all week, I want my a/c working NOW). They claimed they did not have a blower wheel for the Celica and that I could reuse the old one.

Anyone know how to get the old one off? I've been spraying with PB Blaster and trying to work a screwdriver into the shaft to widen the fitting, but the wheel won't budge. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I don't want to suffer for three days while a motor/wheel assembly gets shipped to me. :(

You certain its the motor? The blower resistor is a more common failure.

Lubricate as you have & then take a big screwdriver and pry from the bottom.

or

"That wheel usually comes off best if you pry from beneath it with fingers or a pry bar while somone hits the shaft with a hammer and punch or disposable Phillips head screw driver in a pinch. Use some penetrating juice and it should come off."

Yes, the motor itself is dead. Turn to high, no air. Bang something against the motor and it starts, but blows very weak. Makes mechanical ticking noises.

Nice. Wish I had seen this earlier to try...I broke down and ordered a unit from BAP that should come with a new wheel. Praying it arrives tomorrow.

Backside/bottom of the motor where the bulge is. That plate should come off revealing the brushes.
