i kinda chipped in on another forum but i figured i would start another with this problem...my car is blowin white smoke like crazy...so much i cant drive it or anything itll smoke out everything...its a brand new engine just installed this past week...i cant seem to figure it out im afraid that the place i bought the engine from may have put on a bad head gasket or just screwed me and sent me a bad head which is what they did with the first engine they sent me...anyone got any other ideas before i check the head gasket? also there is no oil in the water nor is there water in the oil and im uncertain if i have the hoses from the iacv hooked up right...also the car is getting hot like real fast and seems like it may overheat so i end up shutting it off before that can happen im open for any ideas

when my dads pickup blew a head gasket , we fixed it and it had white smoke for a couple days ( we didnt run it much so thats why it took that long) maybe after 3 hours of driving it might go away. If your car is overheating make sure you bled the air out correctly.

its a little grey but I figured it might be because the oil is brand new the reason its not as dark as it should be but I didn't think it should matter oil should burn the same color but I could be wrong of course im gonna clean the intake out along with the plugs as well I know those poor plugs have been through hell haha

How did you drain the coolant from the system? If you only drained the radiator, you probably still had alot left in the block. You'll have to drain the block's coolant by pulling out the plugs in order to fully deplete the system.

It's probably a head gasket. Make sure that the bolt torque for the motor is correct. if you got it as a longblock, was it used or rebuilt? and if it was just the head, who installed it?

thanks for the pcv valve part I didn't know how to see if mine was good but the pvc hose has a lot of oil in it though so if the pcv valve is good and I've got good compression are there any other possibilities besides having to much crank case pressure im hoping that my engine isn't going bad its only got 2 miles on it just installed man

How much did you pour in the cylinders...that could be causing the smoke too you know.

Check your pcv hose for oil..if your pcv rattles when you shake it..means it is good. If you have excessive blow by causing the major oil loss then do a compression check...but you may get alright readings since you poured oil in the cylinders.

ok im not as stupid as yall are thinking I am you can crank a car without water just not run it...I drained to the coolant after I drove it it was tryin to run hot and was blowing a lot of white smoke so I drained the coolant to see if when I cranked the car again it would blow the smoke which it did so I filled it back with coolant...the smoke is from oil burning though oil is from the pcv valve like a lot of oil is coming from it actually I believe that its getting to much crank case pressure and making it blow the oil out but im replacing the pcv valve tomorrow to make sure first

You drained all the water out of it..and you are wondering why it's overheating. Did I read that right?

You poured the oil in the cylinders........?

White smoke is burning coolant/water. Blue is burning oil.

it'll only overheat when I drive it and hit this gas hard which is another symptom of head gasket also I may get lucky though I drained all the water while ago and it still white smoked bad and when I cupped my hands behind it they got oily I had to pour oil into the cylinders about 3 times because the old gas I had was bad and washed the cylinders down im wondering if the oil may have went into the intake and its very slowly burning out? even if that's it I can't figure why its getting hot

when you say you "drained all the water", do you mean you drained all the coolant out of the cooling system? If you did that, you should fill it back up immediately and don't drive it without coolant.

There's oil residue coming from the exhaust?

You poured oil into the cylinders? Like you poured oil into where the spark plugs go? Or do you mean you had to put oil in the engine because the oil reading on the dipstick was low?

that sounds like a bad head gasket. I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure overheating is a symptom and the white smoke is being caused by coolant being burned. it's overheating within a matter of minutes, huh?
